A Crappy Game
A downloadable poopoo for Windows, macOS, and Linux
"Navigate your boss's party without getting fired or pooping yourself."
It's a little visual novel originally created for the Unmentionable Jam. It's just 1,207 words, but I joined this jam with just four days before the end, and it was both my first Game Jam as well as my first visual novel. I learned a lot through the experience.
My personal goal was to create a game that was both unmentionable as well as lacked any inappropriate language or imagery. (That custom poop emoji is as gross as it gets.)
According to my kids, I thoroughly succeeded at my goal. They don't want anything to do with the game.
Additionally, this game was inspired by a free lo-fi acapella album called "Putting the Crap back in Crapcapella" by Mr. Beany's Bitty Band. That band was composed of the development team here, back before we switched to just calling ourselves "yam655."
The download includes a four track OST made during the jam for this game. The archive here at Itch.io is the MP3 V0 version of the soundtrack. If you want a different format, it's available for free on the yam655 Bandcamp.com page. For most people, the MP3 V0 will be enough, and if you have specific tastes, Bandcamp can accommodate them easier than we can here.
The macOS version was built for Intel CPUs. It should run on the Apple M1 CPUs, but it won't be optimized. This is a visual novel, though, so being optimized for the M1 or not should not have a meaningful distinction.
Full details on running the macOS version are now available in a devlog tutorial. (It has pictures.)
